Towards "Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered" Concert

4th May. 2026 / in Tokyo
Today at Tokyo Komaya, we held the "Keiko Koma Coffee Ceremony" and the "Keiko Koma Today’s Story and Gathering to Express in Poetry the Deepest Wishes That Arise as We Move Toward Full Houses for Concerts." Drawing on my innate sensitivity to hear messages from trees, flowers, and life, I feel the body of each person present, determine a precise measure of beans, grind them, and brew coffee with hot water boiled by an iron kettle using a ladle into special cups that Master Idaki Shin made himself. As I brew, I feel in my body that purification and cleansing are taking place, because that is the very nature of the coffee roasted by Master Idaki Shin. When I move in a way that honors that nature, the coffee fills with light. Alongside the coffee, I prepared yomogi daifuku today—what I have named "Good Luck Koguryo Daifuku." The yomogi daifuku, too, leaves one with a sense of freshness upon tasting it, as though one's very life has been cleansed. The pairing of coffee and yomogi daifuku feels perfectly matched, and I believe those who partake will find their life purified. Drawing further on my innate sensitivity for perceiving the fate, inner state, and physical condition of others, I look into each person's interior and express in one word that which arises from wind, fragrance, and light—and write it in a brushstroke of ink on marbled Tosa washi. I believe this offers each person an opportunity to regain oneself and to see clearly what one is meant to do. With all my heart I wish for those who come to Komaya to take a great leap forward, and I pour everything I have into creating that space. "Today's Story" and "Gathering to Express in Poetry the Deepest Wishes That Arise as We Move Toward Full Houses for Concerts" that follow are approached with equal wholehearted commitment—I give everything I have so that, no matter what, these become occasions for the words of life to be born. There are improvements and challenges constantly. When the day is over, I notice many things and feel keenly how I might do them differently next time, yet I approach each occasion in earnest.
Words are life itself—they open one’s life and even change the world. This I have continued to experience ever since meeting Master Idaki Shin. I survived with only two months to live and have come this far. It was, of course, the experience of meeting Master Idaki Shin and being liberated from fate that allowed me to express the words of life. As long as fate remains, one does not know who one truly is. Fate inherited through generations of ancestors resides within us, and so our temperament and character, too, have been passed down from those ancestors. I was aware that I had never lived as my true self. After being liberated from fate, a life of living as my true self was opened. I have expressed the words of life—which I have been calling innermost demands—and, by expressing them, a life of living as my true self unfolded. I see clearly that this experience will spread throughout the world. Believing that the expressions of life born at Komaya will spread across the world and bring about a movement toward world peace, I think and act earnestly.
Today, too, delicious coffee was brewed. And today I served everyone a parfait made exactly as I had wished to make it. I cooked adzuki beans the day before. The adzuki beans, too, were cooked in conversation with them, and even without tasting, I could sense they would be delicious. Exclamations of delight arose, and after everyone enjoyed them with great joy, the gathering became bright, lively, fun, and warmly convivial. When it ended, all left with smiles, scattering back to their respective places. The words "see you again" become the energy that carries us forward. Each person goes back to one’s place, makes one’s contributions, returns to Komaya to regain and refine oneself, then goes out again to make more contributions—and in that cycle of repetition, I see a good world being built without fail, which fills me with joy and gratitude. Thank you so much for today.

5th June. 2026 / in Tokyo

Hello.
I had a very joyful experience at yesterday’s gathering at Komaya. Then, in the evening, a long-standing habit of mine appeared again—the consciousness of seeing became very strong. My eyes and head began to hurt, and I understood very clearly that unless I truly change this way of living, there is no future ahead. Through this experience, I was able to find how I should change my way of living.
Because of this, I have become very excited about holding future gatherings. After all, people come seeking encounters, joy, discoveries, and creation. I realized once again that only by living in such a way I can create a place where such things can happen.
From now on, just as the title suggests, I look forward to creating places of encounters and creation by living that way myself. Please do come to Komaya again. Our next gathering, A Day of Encounters, will be held on June 9th at Star Hall in Mitaka. Beginning with this next event, I am going to put this new way of being into practice. I sincerely hope to spend this time together with all of you.
Thank you very much.

Improvisation Poem

4th June. 2026 / in Tokyo

A life that receives light from beyond
The past merges with the light
And is reborn as a new strength
A life that has no choice but to move forward
Even without a clue
Light from beyond pours down
Enabling one to walk forward
Toward an unknown world of nothingness
The creation of a new world

A strong, powerful wind
shows us the way—
to move at once,
toward a new world,
toward an unknown world.
Rising up
into the far beyond.

Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered Concert – October 23rd, 2017 Kyoto

An infinitely transparent and beautiful world,
A single shining blue star,
An eternal soul.
The 19th king of Koguryo, Gwanggaeto the Great,
Was born under a light of Heaven,
In a world of war.
He continued to fight, and continued fighting.
He became a young king,
Leading the vanguard ahead.
He was challenged to risk his life in the middle of enemies.
The enemies, admiring the beauty of the young king,
Left without fighting.
He met desirable people to live together with,
Who became people of Koguryo, so we hear.
A wind was blowing in the land of the Gwanggaeto the Great, an infinity, an eternity, a clear mind.
He lived and kept his purest soul.
He entered into the enemy with an intention not to sacrifice anyone else's life.
He continued to fight.
There was a limit in this world, and
There was a limit in Heaven, he realized.
Soon or later far beyond Heaven,
An infinite world would be opened. Believing so,
He lived and fought together with Heaven.
Why could a human not live without a fight?
Why could a human kill a precious life?
He questioned the infinite world.
Soon or later, far beyond Heaven,
A time in which a light of the origin would appear,
A time in which many souls would accomplish their wish,
While knowing that there was a limit in Heaven,
A sorrow through his life with Heaven,
was engraved on the ground.
A time in which the land of sorrow would turn into light.
He continued to wish even after death, continued working,
He continued to make a time which would open far beyond Heaven
An appearance of a light of the origin,
An infinite world, opened far beyond Heaven.
All souls would wake up, revive, and gather.
The Beginning of a new era of new human beings.

Love transcending space-time

Brilliantly and beautifully shining internality manifests the authentic state of our life full of love.
In my teens, I suffered from many diseases almost in every part of my body and experienced life and death crises several times. In such a critical moment I shed tears with slight hope. And after a dozen of years of investigations, I realized the source of hope I had embraced as an eternal bearing for opening up a future. By properly acknowledging the internal conditions of my body, I discovered that communion with another person’s life happened within my body and not only mine but another person’s physical or mental pains and a state of illness can be nursed gradually or rapidly owing to the nature of human life that could meet others in a much broader and unknown dimensional space. I did not need to operate consciously nor wish to make this process happen: towards unity with nature, everything happened just naturally and repeatedly. Now my piano improvisations express this marvelous encounter with people at a very deep level of human life so that each of you may realize an authentic state of love and realize that your life is indeed shining on to eternity in this vast universal space.
