Messages from Keiko Koma

14th July. 2025 / in Tokyo

I had a meeting regarding the renovation work of Tokyo Roppongi Koma-ya. No matter what situations arise, the fact that we can have discussions and move forward in a better direction gives me a deep sense of hope for the future. I believe that only when our hearts are connected, we can create something truly good. By expressing how we feel and understanding each other, we can build a place where people’s hearts connect. I feel grateful that we can have such conversations because the people involved are those who have experienced Master Idaki Shin’s concerts and the “Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered.” Koma-ya will be reborn as a central base for the new era. Through a series of coincidences, I was led all the way to the renovation project. Coincidentally, I entered a furniture shop where I encountered wonderful pieces, and this encounter led me to have the cafe renovated. I feel that this is no ordinary occurrence. When I first saw the furniture, the words “a cafe where poetry is born” came to me, and I could see the scene clearly. To make that vision come true—after more than one year—the renovation will be complete soon in early August. I believe that a cafe where people can reflect on life, become aware of themselves, and express themselves will surely be of help to many. More than anything, I have long been searching for such a cafe, so to have come to create it myself fills me with joy and gratitude. In the same year I began introducing coffee from Ethiopia to Japan at their request, we built our head office building in Roppongi and made the first floor a cafe. After 25 years, the cafe is now about to be entirely transformed and reborn. Since I resolved from the beginning that I would continue supporting Ethiopia throughout my life, I feel determined to keep contributing to Ethiopia by promoting their coffee in Japan. Thank you for this day.
