Today, at Yui-Kobo, which we built in Yamamoto Town, an area affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, Master Idaki Shin roasted coffee beans. Yui-Kobo is a multipurpose facility that houses a roasting plant, Café Komaya, a confectionery kitchen, and a sales outlet for a local strawberry farm. A person in the disaster-affected area told me that creating businesses where young people can work with hope is the greatest support for reconstruction. Since our coffee business is a business without contradictions or sacrifices, we thought it would offer people the greatest hope, and that is why we built the facility. Before that, we opened Sendai Komaya. It is on the second floor of the Sirius Building on Aoba Avenue across from Fujisaki Department Store. Yesterday, at Komaya, we held the Legendary Café of Koguryo and my “Keiko Koma’s Story”, and at Denryoku Hall, we held Master Idaki Shin’s piano concert.
Today, at Yui-Kobo, Master Idaki Shin himself roasted coffee beans, and an exquisite coffee, unlike anything in this world, was born. As for KOMAGESHA Coffee, people in Ethiopia named the field KOMA Farm, and in Japan, we named the coffee KOMAGESHA Coffee. We gave it this name in response to a proposal that farmers would have hope in their work if they knew what NPO KOMA is doing in Ethiopia. As you know, Gesha coffee is among the finest in the world. I am grateful for great guidance as the variety originated in Ethiopia. In addition, Master Idaki Shin roasted the special “Tamashii” (soul) coffee, as well as Yirgachafe and Limu coffee, which we have been importing for many years. We were enveloped in a fragrant, floral aroma and enjoyed very delicious coffee. People gathered there, even with those who do not know one another, naturally filled with the energy of warm, lively conversation. I always hope that this kind of energy will spread throughout the world. I am sincerely happy and grateful that all enjoyed themselves today and spent the time smiling. I hope that many people will enjoy our delicious coffee. Thank you very much.
