Today is October 1st, and “Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered” was successfully held at Komae Ecolma Hall. Although there had been concern about the weather due to the typhoon, it cleared up this morning, and the blue sky stretched out—it was an autumn sky. I felt that the life of nature was celebrating this day, and with heartfelt gratitude, I headed to the venue. From the rehearsal, as I listened to Master Idaki Shin’s performance, my heart was deeply moved and tears kept welling up. The sound resonated deep within my chest, breaking through layer upon layer that had covered my chest, allowing me to feel it deep within. There is nothing but love deep within the chest. Life knows that it is connected together with everyone’s life and is love. Once again today, I am reminded that all we need to do is live as life is lived. It is my greatest joy to encounter beings that emerge from Master Idaki Shin’s performance. It is an honor to meet the beloved King Dongmyeong, King Gwanggaeto, and Lady Yuhwa. And it becomes the strength to live. I am deeply grateful that I can hold the “Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered,” where I can meet those I wish to meet on stage, where my whole body comes alive and I can be so moved that tears flow. Such moment to moment is a moment when I can truly feel that I am “alive.” And I understand that such moment to moment is eternal. I am filled with great joy that I could have an experience connected to the founding myth of Jumong, “crossing the river and entering a new land,” which was today’s theme. Soon after the concert began, I could cross the river and set foot in a new land. It was a truly wonderful experience. I am filled with excitement and hope at the thought that, from today, I can live in a new land and head toward an unknown world. Once again today, I could understand that the history of Koguryo has been passed down within my life. I understand well that true history is passed down within human life. What is written down is only a small part of it. I am filled with the greatest joy and gratitude for being given the opportunity to express in poetry the history of Koguryo passed down within my own life. The festival of Koguryo was so lively and joyful, and my heart was fulfilled by being united with beings. I felt that I could live for another year. I am deeply grateful to everyone who came from all over Japan, filling the venue to capacity and making it possible to welcome this day. I am truly happy and grateful that we could experience it together. And surely, today’s experience will spread throughout the world before long. I am deeply moved, as always, by how extraordinary it is that such an experience can take place and that the world will change. Thank you very much.
