Today, I was caught in a sudden torrential downpour. I could hardly see ahead, and driving was extremely dangerous, so I remained tense the whole time. I passed through it with a prayer to God in my heart. As I prayed to God, I felt myself becoming connected with Great Being, and it was as if a pillar of light arose within me, calming my spirit. I strongly feel that in the era we live in, anything can happen at any time. Today’s torrential downpour taught me that I can no longer live as easily as I have before. When we screened a video work of the land of Koguryo at Komaya in Tokyo, lightning flashed, thunder roared, and even the ground seemed to tremble. Heavy rain was pouring down. Whenever we hold the “Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered,” lightning flashes and thunder echoes through the sky. We have come to call this a sign from nature that nation-building is beginning. When we went abroad, we interpreted sudden changes in the weather and the rain that followed as rain of purification. What happened today made me feel that nature can no longer accept humanity’s selfishness. There is nothing but gratitude for being alive. I learned that to lose the will to live or to grieve while still living life is, in itself, against life. I am alive, and therefore I will live with sincerity and seriousness. I learned that I cannot live while carrying personal sorrow, loneliness, and pain. Being connected with Great Being, and being alive now, this has become the beginning of truly living in the present.
