Messages from Keiko Koma

6th Jul. 2026 / in Tokyo

Today, as we move toward a full house for our concerts, I wrote letters to those who have taken the IDAKI Counseling Course. I have always found joy in every part of the process—folding the concert leaflets, placing them into envelopes, affixing stamps. It has now been forty-two years since I began my work in IDAKI, yet the very moment I fold a leaflet to enclose it in a letter still fills me with a deep sense of comfort and delight, which brings me joy. Even when my mother was critically ill, as I folded leaflets through tears, my heart gradually became clear and composed. I calmed down and regained an inner state connected with the far beyond. A concert brings happiness not only while listening to the performance itself, but from the moment the leaflet is created and from the very act of placing it into another person's hands. Every step is a moment of happiness. Today again, as I continued folding together with those who kindly helped, I felt warmth, knowing that although we exchanged no words, our hearts were united. At a time when the world is in profound crisis, those of us who have experienced these concerts know that they offer a solution at root level. My wish is to share the experience with as many people as possible, so I think constantly about how to let others know. There is nothing comparable to a live concert in restoring the function of life and filling us with supreme joy. Whenever I find myself saying from the depths of my heart, “I feel truly grateful to be alive,” I cannot help but wish that people everywhere in the world could share in this experience. I pray that those living in sorrow, suffering, and unimaginable hardship may find even a little peace of heart and be embraced by warmth as they spend their days. May the experience of these concerts spread throughout the world, and may a world in which everyone can live in peace and happiness be realized as soon as possible. Holding that day in my heart, I will continue my activities every day. Thank you very much.
