Today, we held the “Gathering of a Journey Through the Land of Koguryo” at Tokyo Komaya. We served Komaya Special Ceremony Coffee, last roasted by Master Idaki Shin at Yui-Kobo yesterday, a blend available nowhere else but at Komaya. As I was deeply moved by the imagery of sacred Mount Paektu and of Wunu Mountain in fresh autumn, my mind and body were cleansed, and as I prepared the coffee with such a purified heart, the inside and outside became united—there was no greater sense of ease. Brewing the coffee, I could feel in my body that when the inner state is pure and clear, it opens a path to the far beyond. I savored the honor of preparing this sacred coffee with deep gratitude. Even before the first sip, I knew it would be exquisite. The moments spent savoring coffee and sweets were deeply rich and filled with happiness. Enjoying each mouthful, relishing the full depth of flavor, I felt a profound sense of joy. And the time spent turning inward together with everyone, bringing forth poetry was also deeply rich and filled with happiness. In a stillness and depth that knows no end, the inner self becomes sharpened and purified. Words that are born there become a source of strength for life ahead. They lay down a path toward the future. Today again, I felt deep gratitude—how truly fortunate it is to live a life graced with such precious time. Enveloped in the warmth of wood, the heart finds peace, we connect with one another, and a beautiful fragrance begins to arise. It was a profoundly wonderful experience, and from it, a new strength to face tomorrow is born. My innermost demand is the realization of world peace. As I drank the coffee, a wind sweeping across the open grasslands passed through the depths of my life, stirring a vital energy within, and an unwavering resolve welled up—that we will surely create a better world. Thank you very much.
