Messages from Keiko Koma

20th Apr. 2026 / in Kyoto

Hearing the song of bush warblers and a chorus of many birds, feeling the gentle sway of the trees, I engaged in marbling tincture in the inner garden of our tearoom on Mount Hiei. Talking with plants and trees, receiving light showered upon us, I feel joyful fun in the process. Rather than from obligation, I have always felt I’d be happy if I could do marbling when I naturally wanted to do it, and I feel delighted that such marbling is possible on Mount Hiei. Today, Master Idaki Shin gave two important lectures at the IDAKI Kyoto Office. In this chaotic world’s state of confusion, I feel deeply how crucial it is, for living in this era, to listen to Master Idaki Shin’s talk to cultivate sensitivity to confirm essentials and discern things for oneself. As I listen, unnecessary things are cleared away and unneeded notions disappear, and I can see and feel what is true as the truth. This is the greatest joy. And I can see that by understanding the meaning of having been born into this world and the meaning of existing, by living to fulfill those meanings, we can contribute to world peace. There is no way of living that is so free of contradiction and so good in all respects. The more I understood, the more I sincerely wished, once again today, to convey this and share the experience with people all over the world.
Tomorrow, Master Idaki Shin will play a piano concert in Kyoto. As this concert resonates throughout the world, I would be most grateful if we could experience it together with many people. Also, tomorrow, after some time, we will open the Legendary Cafe of Koguryo at Gosho-minami “Koma-ya.” The Koma Gallery Cafe in Yasaka, at the foot of Yasaka Pagoda, will also be open. This gallery cafe is in a spot Yasaka Pagoda seems to watch over, and when the wind blows from the tower, I feel the presence of my ancestral souls with us. It is a truly wonderful place. I established this base in Kyoto with the wish that when people from all over the world visit, they may encounter light, and that the light may remain eternal without ever fading. Wishing to move forward each day toward creating a peaceful world, I continue to live. I sincerely look forward to seeing everyone at the concert tomorrow. Thank you very much.
