Messages from Keiko Koma

30th Mar. 2026 / in Tokyo

Along the avenue of cherry trees, petals swirl in the spring breeze, and the ground has begun to take on a gentle blush of pink. As I stood beneath the blossoms at night to enjoy their view, I perceived a vision in which the spirit of the cherry blossoms and the flower blooming within my heart became one blossom, unfolding as a flower of love. I earnestly wish to live united with the life of nature and to welcome the moment of full bloom. Wars continue in the world, and when I think of the many people who live in harsh conditions, my heart aches deeply. And while here in Japan, I spend my days unable to remain still, filled with a sense of urgency. Although it’s the season of the cherry blossoms coming into bloom, sadly, the condition in which human beings are living is far from spring, and I sincerely wish to transform human society that runs counter to the laws of life.
Today, at Kitchen Labo, I had the opportunity to enjoy gnocchi prepared by an Italian chef. I was grateful to have this authentic dish. Kitchen Labo, operated by NPO Koma, is a place where people may do what they enjoy and work together. Through the combined efforts of many, they offer food that is both delicious and nourishing to the body. It will be open again tomorrow, and I would be most delighted if you could come and enjoy it. Whatever the circumstances, I hope that we may continue, step by step together, to advance a way of living that contributes to the world. Thank you.
