Messages from Keiko Koma

9th Dec. 2025 / in Tokyo

Today, the person who sends us olive oil from Lebanon visited. He produces olive oil in southern Lebanon, an area that has been bombed by the Israeli military. Although the factory was destroyed by fire, the machine used for pressing olives survived alone, while all the other equipment was lost. This year, the oil arrived not in bottles but in cans. Its aroma is remarkably rich, fresh, and full-bodied, and I was deeply moved by how luxurious it is—simply pouring it over a salad makes the meal feel exquisitely special. I pay my deepest respect to his unwavering will and strength to continue his work despite such harsh circumstances, and I am sincerely grateful to be able to enjoy this oil here in Japan. Listening to his stories, I was heartbroken to learn how severe the situation in Lebanon has become. Lebanon is the home of my soul, where I encountered my late father’s spirit and began a new life living with the eternal soul within me, free from sinking into sorrow. Hearing that the country now faces an existential crisis fills me with prayers that it will never be lost. How I should live for the betterment of the entire world is something I always ask and reflect upon, and through Master Idaki Shin’s lectures and concerts I am shown this direction and nourished in mind and body so that I may continue to live. I feel deeply grateful that we are so fortunate. This experience awakens in me a renewed resolve to embody a way of life that truly serves the world as soon as possible. The day after tomorrow, on the 11th, Master Idaki Shin’s piano concert will be held at ROHM Theatre Kyoto. It is the very core of life. Understanding deeply that this is what must be prioritized above all else, I express and convey this to many people, praying that it reaches them. There is no experience comparable to being physically present in that space, and I earnestly hope that, no matter the circumstances, people will overcome all obstacles and come to the concert hall and place themselves in that environment. I sincerely look forward to welcoming you. Thank you.
