Today, November 1, is my father’s death anniversary, as well as the anniversary of the founding of NPO KOMA. Just as my father chose the first day as the beginning of things, I, too, have felt the wish to start anew, and have organized various events for this day. This year, at the newly renovated Tokyo Koma-ya, we held Keiko Koma Coffee Ceremony and a gathering titled “Keiko Koma: Reflecting on My Father and Dialogue.” For the ceremony, Master Idaki Shin roasted special coffee yesterday at Yui-kobo. Its elegant fragrance, filled with richness and beauty, rose carrying an energy that transcends dimensions. The taste itself surpassed any worldly notion of deliciousness—it opened both my heart and inner state, lifting me into flight. I was deeply moved by the sense of immense cleansing, purification, good fortune, and soaring. Today, the staff and I made daifuku rice cakes. After eating them, nothing heavy remained; instead, a refreshing, pure wind seemed to pass through our bodies. We were all amazed as we made them as there were probably no daifuku anywhere as delicious and uplifting as these. We served Master Idaki Shin’s specially roasted coffee in his handmade ceramic cups, and I poured hot water into each one with a ladle, preparing every cup wholeheartedly. The combination of the coffee and daifuku was perfect—all instantly became revitalized, their faces glowing with joy, and they left feeling fulfilled and happy. I believe that such a state of fulfillment is itself a sure sign of good fortune, so I tell everyone that Koma-ya is a “Good Fortune Café.” Here, people rediscover themselves and express their innermost wishes born from within, which lead to receiving abundant guidance and bringing their dreams into reality. I clearly see that such a place is the very center of the world, and I receive the same message through the coffee. It is my wish for this place to function truly as the center and become the base for transmitting energy to realize a world of love where humanity can genuinely live. I am deeply grateful for the many who sent beautiful flowers and the many guests who came to celebrate this day. It was a truly wonderful day. I began the day feeling that it would be a brand-new day. Seeing Mount Fuji from my window for the first time this winter felt like a blessing for this new day, and I give thanks with all my heart. Tomorrow, too, a new day will begin. Thank you.
