Messages from Keiko Koma

8th Sep. 2025 / in Tokyo

Today, at my staff’s atelier, we did marbling on leather. After flashes of lightning, thunder, and heavy rain, the beautiful moon appeared, smiling gently and watching over us. The night wind turned into autumn breeze, and I felt gratitude for the happiness of the opportunity to do marbling under moonlight. I felt joy and bliss to live such a life. As dusk deepened into darkness, I dropped paints onto water. Though I could not see the colors, my body sensed that wonderful pieces would emerge, and my soul leapt. When we lifted them from the water to let them dry, I was astonished by their beauty. The more I gazed at them, the more my heart was captivated. I felt the blessing of life to be able to write down one’s innermost demands and feelings and the words of life every day in a notebook wrapped in such a beautiful and divine leather cover. It is a notebook that will accompany that person throughout life. Through words, we open our lives. The meaning of living deepens. After marbling, all of us there shared a meal together, and again I felt great joy and happiness. I’m truly grateful for such an opportunity. I sincerely pray that a peaceful world will come, where people all over the world live peacefully, share happy meals together, and enjoy joyful moments. Tomorrow, at Mitaka City Arts Center, Master Idaki Shin’s concert will be held, and my heart is full of hope for life as I know his concert provides root solutions. I will continue to think about creating peace as soon as possible and keep expressing and realizing what arises from deep inside. Thank you.
