Messages from Keiko Koma

4th May. 2025 / in Kyoto

On Mount Hiei, where green tree leaves shone, I did marbling art. Having an opportunity in life to do marbling in a space where a refreshing wind blew, beautiful sunshine lit, and greenery colored was blissful. It fills me with joy and gratitude every time. Working together with my staff, our hearts in unity, is also joyful. Sharing a moment of rest and enjoying dango dumplings, rice balls, and coffee together is also enjoyable. Such a time is the shining moment of every day that exists as eternal present. The brilliance of the trees I saw as I drove down Mount Hiei was ineffably beautiful and captivating. It’s a beautiful season. I brim with gratitude for the blessing of being born in beautiful Japan. Kyoto was filled with foreign visitors. On Yumemi-zaka slope beside Koma Gallery Cafe in Yasaka, different languages filled the air and the street was packed with people from abroad. The bustling air was full of energy that was a burden to life. I deeply felt that if people’s lives are rich and shining, the surrounding space will be filled with light where life will be healed and rejuvenated. I opened Koma Gallery Cafe as a space where you can connect with heaven and regain yourself, so I sincerely hoped for the purpose of the space to be fulfilled. The view of Yasaka Pagoda from the inner garden is exceptional. It is a space where you feel ancient times, sense history, connect with human souls, and reflect on life. We made a fresh start today to serve people all over the world better. Tomorrow, I will hold “Keiko Koma: My Life Story” at Koma Gallery Cafe in Yasaka. While Yasaka Pagoda watches over us, in the wind from the tower, I am sincerely grateful for the opportunity to speak about my life. Thank you very much.
