As the beautiful full moon watches over me in an ancient capital, I sense an aroma of ancient times―a wonderful drive filled with historical atmosphere. A beautiful existence shows itself from behind moving clouds. I’m surprised at the big change as if the world has been transformed. I think about the life of people throughout history who were comforted and found hope to live from the moonlight in the darkness and the shining stars in the night sky. When I drive along the Kamo River in Kyoto, I feel souls that are together with me. I sense the presence of Koguryo people who used to walk along the moonlit river. After a lapse of more than 1000 years, I now drive along the same river. Life is wondrous and mystical.
To head towards my Paris exhibition, I dyed marbling patterns on Japanese “washi” paper that is said have come from Koguryo. Life is indeed wondrous, and I deeply feel the guidance of many souls. Together with the souls of people who lived in the past, we realize the earnest wish of humanity in this era. I received an encouraging message from “Mt. Gojo” coffee today that my movements will bear fruit because of the presence of many supporters. Now is a time when we can feel the existence of souls that are together with us by taking action. I move forward towards the realization of peace. Thank you very much.
