Messages from Keiko Koma
26th Aug. 2019

Facing Komagatake mountain, feeling the wind blowing in the land at forty degrees north latitude, I contemplate life at dusk in early autumn. The long history of my ancestors on a single path, I see a light-scape where all merge to leap into a world filled with light. I know that each of us lives this time as a representative of history. Clearing the past to leave no burdens from it to our descendants, I have lived following the deepest demands of my life, demands that come from the future. In the Tohoku region of Japan, a massive earthquake took the precious lives of many people, collapsed buildings, and destroyed towns. I started coming here when I saw that there’s no future for Japan without the recovery of Tohoku. Following my innermost wish to devote my life to the area, we came to build three places in the region as our base. Yesterday in Morioka, one of the places, we held important events that enriched our internalities. And in a disaster area of Yamamoto-cho, Miyagi Prefecture, where ninety percent of the town was destroyed, we built, as support for the recovery, Yui-Kobo, which has a coffee roasting facility, a café, a confectionery kitchen, and a local strawberry farm's store. Today at Yui-Kobo, Master Idaki Shin will roast coffee beans. Exceptional and incomparable to anything else, exquisite coffee of a different dimension will be born. Just by having it, I become filled with deep gratitude to be born in this world. Such experience fills me with energy to keep working.
In the evening, I will hold my lecture event “To be With All Your Soul” at Café Komaya, a base we built in Sendai. I’m thankful to hold it at one of our bases. I wish to let people across the world know about following the true demands of one’s life, a way of life that works for everyone. I feel blessed to tell the world about it. I envision that the world will become peaceful at once if everyone starts to live true to one’s innermost feelings. I will keep telling people about it until what I foresee is realized.
When I left Tokyo, in extreme heat, I couldn’t stop sweating in the glaring sunshine. In the land of Tohoku, an autumn wind is already blowing. The singing of insects resonates in air, telling us of the arrival of a new season. Together with the lives of nature growing towards harvest time, I will head towards the realization of my deepest wish this autumn. Thank you very much.
