Born in this world, we are to live as human beings and die as human beings—learning that this is indeed a human life, I intend to acquire that way of living. Since childhood, I was aware of my own presence which always watched myself inside. I'd thought that everybody else did the same. Recently I came to ponder over who that presence was. Watching myself and other people makes me feel distressed, lonely, and empty inside. Objectifying myself, I suffer from a sense of alienation. I realize that such awareness becomes possible because at Master Idaki Shin’s concert I experience the state of being unified with all lives. At such a moment, in one with space, I forget my self, becoming most comfortable and filled with love and utmost joy. We experience the state of living as a human and come to know the meaning of being born. In search of what a human being is, Master Idaki Shin found the answer, saw the limits of communicating it by words, and discovered a way to express it by piano improvisation. When listening to his piano, we feel our own gentle lives that receive anyone else’s life and regain the state of being unified with all other lives. It is the starting point of living a human life. Today at Master Idaki Shin’s lecture “On Death,” I was awakened to living a human life that is the meaning of life. Thank you very much.
