Messages from Keiko Koma
11th Mar. 2019

On March 11th, at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake, I offered a silent prayer, together with everyone who gathered at Yui-Kobo, built in an area of earthquake disaster. I believe that people all over Japan offered prayers at the same time. I prayed sincerely feeling the need for those who live now to create a society where humans can truly live by deeply understanding what a human being is. I built Yui-Kobo to realize the vision I saw of “a light of hope that would eternally shine in the land of Tohoku.” I deeply feel that there’s no future for us unless we build a society by changing the situation where human lives are sacrificed and carrying out movements that would enable lives to shine. While it rained outside, many people from across Japan came to Yui-Kobo. Feeling hope in this movement that spreads a circle of light, I am sincerely grateful. Thank you very much.
