The first of January
I wish you a very happy new year. While I have started to live a new life in a newly manifested time, I would like to celebrate the new year from the Koma gallery Café at Yasaka, Kyoto. Mr. Idaki Shin would hand make special rice cakes and sweet red beans to receive our guests together with his specially served coffee. I considered them as new alimentation for life, commemorating the beginning of a new era. Also they were deeply rooted in traditional and favorite food in ancient Koguryo. In reality, when I had visited an historic land of my ancestor, I rejoiced at the display of the variety of traditional foods, as all of them were my favorite thing. I was sure that my ancestor’s souls in Kyoto would also be very happy to see that now we would get together at the Koma gallery Café like one big family, share great hope for a marvelous future, and celebrate the new year with these rice cakes and red beans after their fashion. As I had received a message at our concert held in Hokuriku area, in a place related to Koguryo, the great energy of our joy of having unified all together like one family would surely reach the mainland across the Japan Sea and then the rest of the world. I was extremely grateful to be able to start a new year bearing hope to live a new life towards a glorious future.
