Shumou
I have narrated many times, at the Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered concert, a poem about Shumou who was a master in archery from childhood, and had never failed to hit the target. And at the video program filed yesterday together with Mr. Idaki Shin, he said that Shumou should have eventually discovered his talent in archery just as he had a chance to play with a bow and arrow; a person who had a miraculous talent in one thing usually manifested it naturally in one’s life. In the same manner, valiant members of a troop of Koguryo should be those who had a talent in horse riding and quite naturally a strong and agile horse became one’s companion. His story made me excited and recalled that I used to be very good at archery in my childhood, and like Shumou, I have never missed the target. I never felt nervous as I knew that I should tune myself to the center of the universe and then I would never fail. I also had a feeling that I would be able to ride a horse. While in our modern society I did not have opportunity to ride a horse or do archery, however, I was confident that if I were born in ancient times, I would have been very good at them. Then I wondered what would make me develop my talent in this actual world, and spontaneously I noticed that language was my companion in my life and my life rejoiced and my future looked like shining gloriously. A life living in the center of the universe and the Idaki was filled with vigor and joy and could always achieve our goals. I was filled with gratitude to be alive.
