Poem

Poems I had created often made me unusually impressed as if they were not my own. Today I made a file of poems that I would narrate at the coming Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered concert to be held in Kyoto and surveyed many poems I had created in the past. Some were messages from the Mother Earth and others were predicting our future. I realized again and again that words were indeed identical to my life. As soon as I went against demands of my life my body started to suffer and as long as I remained true to words coming up from the core of my life, then was provided with a dream-like future far better than what I had wished and imagined in my mind. I acknowledged the huge potential of human life and its extremely precious value. Many of the poems I narrated at the Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered concert were about souls of Koguryo’s people, its kings, princess and general. Before holding one of the concerts in Kyoto, I had anticipated encountering someone very special and I felt uneasy for several days, and as the day of the concert approached I was greatly excited at heart for some reason and wrote down on a white paper a poem in my hotel room in Kyoto, that was about the troop of Koguryo. Without consciousness, I raised my voice of joy by myself. I sensed a precise rhythm of its agile movements. At the concert, even before narrating it on stage, everybody seemed to have sensed something special and the atmosphere became very tense as Mr. Idaki Shin improvised very exciting music that touched everyone’s heart.
I sensed that every spectator had held one’s breath and waited for what would happen next. As soon as I read the title of the poem “Troop of Koguryo” I felt that my voice echoed to messages of voiceless souls. In reality the audience looked very impressed just by hearing its title; with mouth wide open, everybody realized the presence of the troop of Koguryo and its sound of horses were heard everywhere. I heard that its enemy troop had often refrained from fighting and went back as it looked extremely beautiful and strong. Together with the music played by Mr. Idaki Shin and his video projection, the narration of my poem has revived the troop of Koguryo and its beautiful image became visible transcending time-space. My concert was indeed a great romanticism of history. As I narrated poems about king Tomei and king Kotai, my dearest persons whom I had long wished to encounter, anyone there could meet them. I became extremely impressed from the top to the bottom of my body with joy of being able to meet them and also by realizing the sadness of history they had experienced. I was indeed happy as there would be no other opportunity like this in the world as in our concert

Encounter
After having separated from mother
Wishing to create a space to live on
He had built a new dynasty.
Light that knew his sadness came down from
Far beyond the universe and embraced him.
A new love was born.
Koguryo was born.
I sincerely wished to encounter king Tomei, the founder of Koguryo.
Also I sincerely wished to encounter the young valiant king Kotai
Who had all at once expanded its territory to the maximum.
Here and now
The encounter had happened in reality.
Once a person would come to encounter him
They would live on together.
They would never be separated forever.
