Oud

Mr. Nazih Ghadban from Lebanon has always participated our concert through Internet live transmission and this time I was fascinated by the beauty of his new oud at the first glance and I asked him to send it to Japan. It looked like an ancient palace and its glory. I felt like being there for a while as if the flow of time were stopped. Then I eventually recalled that Syrian people were marvelous makers of mosaics and many beautiful things I had seen at a historical museum in Damascus. Syrians, Iraqis and Lebanese were all excellent in mosaic. The oud by Mr. Nazih looked very unique and expressed an extreme beauty transcending war situations and miseries. It was like coming from another world. I became confident we should learn a very essential thing from his persistent work. Also the music he played with that oud expressed his strong will true to his messages sent to us at the Idaki Shin concerts. Under any negative circumstances to embrace light of hope within one’s heart was essential to open up a marvelous future. Mr. Idaki Shin was looking forwards to playing the oud to drastically change the actual situations at the coming Legends of Koguryo Rediscovered concert to be held on the 3rd and 4th July in Kyoto.
