Building Koma
Mr. Idaki Shin drew a Koma calligraphy sign board with black paint for our new shop under a chilly night in Kyoto at the inner garden of the Koma gallery Café at Yasaka, while the first character “ko” symbolically signified a Heavenly world that led us to go beyond Heaven that could be understood by anyone just by watching it, and the second character “ma” or “rei” looked like a beautiful person who was walking along one’s path. Traditionally “rei” was a symbolism of the most beautiful scene on earth so it was quite understandable why I felt the presence of a lovely person just by watching the sign board and embraced great hope to live on as I realized, with a surprise, the beautiful nature of human life. My soul trembled as I felt that this sign board would transform Kyoto into a new one as we were heading for the Idaki Shin concert to be held on the 13th May, and in my night dream I envisioned that the photo of its leaflet should be the fortification wall of Mt. Gojo. As I stood in front of the Yasaka tower I felt the presence of numerous souls of ancient people that would constitute the central pole of our country. The pole of Koguryo’s people and their spirituality was firmly built. As we would remain pure and rich in our internality, we would pave a way for creating a new home country that would allow everybody to live a rich and beautiful life at heart.
