Raining in Kyoto

I enjoyed watching the pond of a garden
Over a cup of tea,
As, in a traditional manner,
We appreciated the rotation of seasons
And created poems
That expressed something about my life.
This was a real culture for life.

Leaves of trees were wet under rain.
Rain drops gave birth to and diffused
Circular waves on the surface of water
To manifest a nostalgic scene of autumn.
Since ancient times people have created a poem
That expressed their noble heart and the arrival of a new season,
A deeper meaning of life, and its richness.
Their souls of poets touched my heart.

Now, and in future as well,
I would create a poem,
And live a life unified with life in nature.
The joy to be alive
May we share with my fellow people.

Raining in Kyoto.
Beautiful autumn.
Precious opportunity to learn something about our life.
Thank you very much.

Sweet aroma of aurantiacus invited me
To a journey to an ancient time.

Rain drops on water on a pond.
Sweet fragrance of trees
Attracted me and under aurantiacus trees,
I looked up towards Heaven.
I said ‘my father’, called his name, addressed him
And encountered him, who has been dead quite some time.
The aroma of my father was that of Koguryo.
Now I encountered the father of Koguryo.
New beginning
For our future.
