  21st May 2008 message

Good afternoon my dear friends.
I am now in the Kyoto Museum where my exhibition is being held since yesterday. I created these exhibits originally for an exhibition hall in Beirut, Lebanon. But because of its political instability, we decided to show my works at first in Kyoto, the famous ancient capital of Japan.
I started to make these five-meter-long tapestries two years ago when Lebanon was bombed daily by the Israeli army. I was desperately in need to do something. I recalled a Japanese tradition, to spend every day sewing with a needle, thousands and thousands of times, as a prayer for the well being of one’s most cherished person.
I tried to express the beauty of my internality, and to manifest a peaceful world, wishing that its heavenly light would reach to the hearts of many close friends of mine with whom I felt my life unified.
