Raze Rey

090617_1522~01-1.jpgI loved the sound of this Iranian name for our coffee shop newly planned to open in Tehran. It included Rey from my name that meant a pair of deer as the symbol of  supreme beauty on earth and was the principal idea inaugurating Koguryo’s dynasty. Therefore I usually started by explaining about Rey when I needed to introduce NPO KOMA. The idea to use Rey as the name of our new coffee shop came into my mind in St. Petersburg when we were talking over coffee with live harp music at our hotel’s inner garden lounge. I could also enjoy listening to my favorite song, theme of Lara. In spring in Russia, varieties of flowers were flourishing and fresh breezes were blowing to make a beautiful landscape. In such an atmosphere, Mr. Idaki Shin said Rey would be a good idea as it could imply an ideal relationship between man and woman. After St. Petersburg we flew to Tehran and our local staff member had invited us to his home for dinner where we met his relatives coming from Kazakhstan and Germany. They suggested we modify the name and after a while the guest from Germany said Raze Rey as a new idea. Though I did not understand the Persian language I loved its beautiful sound. He said that Raze meant a special secret so Raze Rey signified a secret of supreme beauty. Everybody applauded his idea as I used to tell my staff that I wanted to create a new space that was filled with love and beauty. .
