Connected through space

In Kyoto, I always felt the presence of my parents though they passed away  many years ago; my heart was filled with warmth and I was grateful to them. As I opened the window of my hotel room late at night, I felt as if I was staying at home, and the Kamogawa river looked like the one that my father used to walk along on his way back to our home. Actually I have been endeavoring to sell the remaining 100 tickets for our concert in Kagoshima, and recalling stories told by Mr. Idaki Shin about Mr. Takamori Saigo and Mr. Toshimichi Okubo, two leading figures of Kagoshima at the time of Meiji restoration, I could envision the beautiful and yet sad eyes of Mr. Saigo that were extremely gentle and filled with deep considerations to everybody. I understood how he lived his life true to his people and dedicated his life to realizing a peaceful society. His life demonstrated beautiful Japanese spirituality and has represented the souls of many great Japanese who fought at the risk of their lives to protect wonderful Japanese traditions. Then I acknowledged an important historic meaning of our concert in Kagoshima; we would revive the marvelous spirituality of those heroic worriers who had fought and died for our nation. I started to feel the presence of many volunteer staff members who seemed to have sensed what I have just realized. Later at night, I received a report telling me good news; one by one but steadily, the remaining tickets were selling. In our Idaki activities, there is no hierarchy among ourselves, so everybody is equal and one can freely express one’s will and opinion without oppressing one’s mind and nobody gives orders to others. However, as I witnessed today, we were connected at heart, indifferent to where we were, and once somebody has discovered something very important for the success of our mutual project, everybody else was influenced positively and started moving in the same direction. The authentic expression of one’s internality was always the key to open up our future. The realm of freedom in our soul and spirituality were the basis of our activities and demonstrate a model of new human relationship..
