Tangun

Today, as we were traveling to Kagoshima in order to deliver my lecture, the weather became outrageous as we had seen on many occasions in our big concerts abroad. I used to consider the tempest as a sign of Tangun, the legendary hero and guardian god of Koguryo, who could wipe away the world’s obscurity and build a new country. .I am deeply grateful to the god for building a dynasty which seems always to be with us.

My mother’s birthday coincides with Mr. Ghazi’s and after her death, I have been celebrating happy birthday with him as well as with my mother who has passed away. In this season of the year, plum trees start blooming with beautiful flowers though gray winter sky is still heavy and covering them above. I feel these lovely messengers came first to tell us to be strong and bear hope as the footsteps of spring were in our hands. I felt also as if I were together with my mother and talking about my dream of changing the world. My life has always been connected with her. I have been realizing my deepest wish in my actual life.
Mr. Ghazi sent me photos taken at my concerts held last December in Lebanon, and e-mailed me a draft design of my website in the Arabic language. It looked beautiful and I was looking forwards to sharing with many people once it would be finished. During bombings by the Israeli army in Lebanon two years ago, he wrote me that as long as he kept on engaging in our cultural projects, he felt quite assured, vigorous and protected as our activities were directly contributing to manifesting the essential nature of humanity. At today’s lecture, a person from Peru participated and he rejoiced to have seen my website in Spanish. Lovely yellow flowers seemed to welcome me to Fukuoka and their beautiful color remained in my heart.
