Fragrance of Osmanthus fragrans

When I returned to Tokyo from Aomori, a tree of Osmanthus fragrans planted at the entrance gate was in bloom. As I got nearer to it, I was surrounded by a familiar aroma of Koguryo that reminded me of my father who has been dead for many years. When I was a high school student and wished to go to Kyoto to ease my mental pains, he let me do so without questioning the reason. Instead he had simply said that by the time I would return from Kyoto the Osmanthus fragrans flowers now in bloom would have fallen down. Since then I recalled this incident every year when I came across an Osmanthus fragrans flower with sweet flagrance. This was how I decided to plant an Osmanthus fragrans tree at the entrance when I built a new house, and every year in this season, my house was surrounded by its fragrance. Today there was a meeting for our next concert in Shinjuku at Mitaka hall that I have been using since we started the Idaki activities twenty six years ago, wishing to open up a new human society and a global environment for children and new generations to live on. The way to get there was also full of familiar scenes and pleasant sounds of autumn that touched my heart. It was the starting point of all the Idaki activities, such as the Idaki Shin counseling courses and many meetings. I realized that humankind was still at the edge of survival or extinction and now was the time for the best endeavors.
