Messages from Keiko Koma

6th Nov. 2024 / in Tokyo

Tomorrow, we will finally hold “A Day of Encounters” at Mitaka City Public Hall. The program happens to start with a screening of our “Jomon” concert, and today, I received a postcard showing a Shakoki Dogu clay figurine, bringing the breeze of Jomon. Free, warm, and filled with love—I felt an unrestricted life. I have heard that the Jomon people communicated through dreams and life connections. Feeling that humans originally lived this way, I believe we can live more fully and richly if we return to this origin. Now, we can communicate with people worldwide through smartphones and computers, but I often feel that if we lose our essential sensibility, we end up being used by such things in this world. Life holds meaning when we are true humans. To live a rich life, I feel the need for opportunities constantly to cultivate our sensibility. Tomorrow, we will hold two screenings and my “Tamashii no Katari (poems of souls) ” where I will read improvised poems. I am sincerely grateful for the precious opportunity to face my internality and reflect on life.
