Messages from Keiko Koma
16th Apr. 2018

I always feel relieved and, at times, am comforted and encouraged by the beautiful landscape viewed from home in Morioka. Before leaving for Tokyo, I spontaneously express my gratitude to the place. I bid farewell and pray that I shall be able to visit Morioka again next month. I gain strength from the brave appearance of Mount Iwate that sends me off with a message that it is always waiting for my return. On my way back to Tokyo today, the mountains were shining brilliantly with pure and fresh energies as if new lives were being born. It was a beautiful landscape of cherry blossoms in bloom and new buds appearing. When I noticed daffodils swaying in the chilly breeze of early spring, my purest wish from childhood was revived. My life rejoiced, feeling a new sign from the land that indicated a transition from the winter sky covered in clouds to spring, when new buds of lives would be born. Feeling the breath of lives in nature, I scented an aroma of refreshing water. The daffodils brought about the aroma of water that purified my heart. I was happy to be able to regain my beautiful and purest heart.
The cherry blossoms flowering in the mountains of Iwate reminded me of Master Idaki Shin’s wife. She was born and raised in Iwate. Feeling her presence from the land and the scenery of Iwate, I felt warmth in my heart and authentic beauty. Just looking at the landscape, water ran through and purified my heart. Something that is authentically beautiful purifies one's heart, and one regains a beautiful heart. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, I perceived that there was no future for Japan without the recovery of the Tohoku region, and a demand of my life, wishing to devote my life to the recovery, was born. My deepest demand has led me to Tohoku. I feel sincerely thankful for the precious opportunity of regaining a beautiful heart and soul.
